The worst thing about reading new books is that they keep us from reading the old ones.

A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen   By Chrostopher McDougall

born_to_run.gifThe title says it all.  This is a fascinating book written by an editor of Men's Health Magazine.  Journalist McDougall begins to search for the reason he can't run.  Why do his feet hurt? Eventually the author is sent to find out about a largely unknown tribe called Tarahumara Indians who live in the Copper Canyon area of Mexico.  This tribe contains many ultra-marathoners.  McDougall searches for and finds the one outsider who has befriended and been accepted by the elusive tribe. Born to Run is a fun read that is full of interesting--and sometimes rather unusual--long-distance runners, some dramatic 50-mile races, and finally the discovery of why some people really are "born to run."                 ~Reviewed by Sue Domis

Sue Domis is an avid amateur runner herself; however, she says this book would appeal to non-runners as well.  You can learn more about the Tarahumara at this web site, as well as numerous o
thers..
