The characters are unique and well-drawn in this compelling story of Hannah, who inherits a small island off the coast of pocketful_of_namesMaine. Hannah's life is rudely interrupted one summer when a dog arrives with the tide. He is soon followed by a teenage runaway, a mainland family in need, and a trapped whale. Now Hannah faces new emotional challenges as alarming family secrets are uncovered. The story illuminates Hannah's conflict between pursuing human connection and artistic solitude.
