August 11: Lots of Action at Chalet Place! PDF Print E-mail

The August 11 WalkAround promises to be a huge event at Chalet Place:

Musical entertainment will provided Robert Rife, featuring Modern Celtic Vocals and Guitar Music.   

In addition, the C-Span Book Bus will be at Inklings Bookshop, providing bus_the_heart_of_it_alltours of the production facility and broadcasting from our parking lot.  You will have an opportunity to tour and get a glimpse into media production.  Visit the Book  TV Web Site to learn more, and don't miss this special event!

 

jonathan_of_scots10-12:00  Local author Al Allaway reads & signs  "Jonathan of Scots." Political intrigue sets off a string of adventures in 17th-century Scotland, when an evil duke burns young Jonathans family home and usurps his farmlands. Jon finds he has been falsely branded a murderer and arsonist.  This novel features colorful historical locations, a sea voyage, and conflict with pirates.

2:-4:00 Katherin Fitzpatrick of Yakima signs her book, "Angel angel promisesPromises," about the loss of her daughter, Karen, in theThirty Mile Fire.  Karen had an internal time clock, a strong, personal relationship with God, and seemed to know she would not live past her teen years.  Karen Lee Fitzpatrick was the youngest of the firefighters to be killed in the Thirty Mile Fire.
waking up alone3:-5:00  Julie Cicero reads and signs her book, "Waking Up Alone." This book deals with how people face grief in their lives.  Whether your loss was sudden or anticipated, your relationship brief or long-term, everyone's experience is different.  Recognizing and understanding the varied pathways of grief is crucial to the healing process.  Julie is a Northwest author, who spent her early years the Yakima Valley.
We hope you will meet and support these talented area authors who come to share their talent and time.  They sometimes get lonely at these events!

The Character Word of the Month for May is "Courtesy." Courtesy is being polite and having good manners. It is being considerate of others. It is a way of speaking and acting with people which gives them a feeling of being valued and respected.
