I have often reflected upon the new vistas that reading opened to me. I knew right there in prison that reading had changed forever the course of my life. As I see it today, the ability to read awoke in me some long dormant craving to be mentally alive.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN WRITE?

Starting on October 29th, a series of presentations at Davis High School Library entitled So You Think You Can Write? will spotlight five local, published authors, who either write young adult fiction or are " moving "  into that field.
The authors will do large and small group presentations for five consecutive weeks, ending right before Thanksgiving break, from 1:00 P.M. until 3:15 P.M.

Author presentations are as follows:
November 6th—Doug Johnson, Davis teacher, prolific author, composer and artist, will discuss his latest collection of fiction Frank's Diary.

November 13th—Kent Lundgren, former U.S. Immigration and Border Patrol officer, will talk about Hope and Honor, his young adult book set primarily in Juarez, Mexico.

November 20th—Donna Scofield, Yakima Herald contributing writer, as well as author of many magazine articles, will speak about her historical fiction.

Tolerance is being able to accept things that you wish were different.  When you practice tolerance, you have flexibility.  You don't expect others to be just like you.
