Tracks in the Sand: A Tale of the Border Patrol
The year is 1968. Ken Travis, new to the Border Patrol, and his partner, Tom "The Real" Diehl, track down a group of illegal aliens near El Paso. The arrests lead them to an organization that uses illegal aliens to cover the smuggling of heroin through the desert. A young woman has been kidnapped in Juarez and is held hostage to guarantee the performance of her grandfather, a retired alien smuggler. He is forced to lead drug mules into the U.S. And another girl is held in bondage in a Juarez whorehouse. She vows to escape, or die trying. A crazed gringo sniper, drummed out of U.S. Army, joins the bad guys and leads them in new efforts.
And, as young men will, Travis finds women, two of them. Each offers a very different path to the future; which will he choose?
It all comes together in an unpredictable conclusion that reflects the realities of law enforcement - and life.
