Webb's novel spans the years between 1899 and 1929.  Twelve-year-old Viva eagerly shepherds her three younger brothers on the journey from Sweden to the Promised Land, America.  Moving from Wisconsin to the tenements of Chicago, from brothels to Medical School, her journey ends in the raucous mining town of Butte, Montana, where she doctors to the poor and the wealthy.  Read more about the author and this compelling novel at Helene Webb's web site.
